Acid-free- Products that are acid free have a pH level of 7.0 or higher. If the level is lower than 7.0 the product will deteriorate over time.

Lignin- This is a natural substance found in tree pulp. Lignin is what causes paper to go yellow and deteriorate.

Archival Quality- Products that are archival are durable, chemically safe and can be used for preservation. They have been proven to be long lasting. This can apply to not only cardstock but also photo paper and inks.

Cardstock- This is a term used to describe the base paper which is heavier than the printed paper used. Cardstock comes in many colours and textures. "Bazzill Linen" is one of the most common used.

Embellishments- They're the added extras used to enhance the page. For example- eyelets, brades, ribbon or anything else that is of Archival Quality.

Journaling- This is the "Story" that brings your photos together. When you journal it is the "Who, What, When, Where and Why". There is no right or wrong. It's what you feel and think. When I journal, I try to either write as if I'm writing a letter telling someone about the photos I'm sending or I write as if someone has asked me the question "Who are these people?", "What are the children doing here?", "Where was this taken?".Keep it simple and as time goes on, you will find there is so much more you want to write.

Matting- Is where cardstock or printed paper is used to frame a photo. It can be a single mat or double.

Layout- This is a term used instead of "page".You can have a "single layout" or "double Layout"

Vellum- This is a transparent paper which can be either plain, coloured, patterned and textured.

Transparency- Is a page of printable plastic that is of Achival Quality that is used as an overlay over the page/photo with a title or journalling printed on it.
